Crystal Flores

Crystal is a certified end-of- life doula, coach and author residing in Seattle Washington. She works with folks to create a dignified and meaningful end-of-life experience by bridging the gap between medical necessity and holistic comfort. She mentors new doulas and educates communities how to change the narrative surrounding death and dying. She does this by normalizing the process, preparing loved ones and holding space for a sacred final chapter. She specializes in V.S.E.D (Voluntary Suspend Eating and Drinking) and M.A.I.D. (Medical Aid in Dying), she’s passionate about advocating for body autonomy and opening dialogue between loved ones. Crystal came to this work through a personal experience in 2015. She wasn’t looking for a career in end-of-life but the work found her and she’s never looked back. She offers in-person support in the Pacific Northwest and virtual support across the United States.

Q If I have Hospice, why would I need a doula?

We have very different roles. A doula wears many hats and has uncapped time with the client and loved ones. I meet you exactly where you are in the process and walk the entire journey with you (and your loved ones). This means I absorb the tasking so your loved ones can maintain their respective roles. Daughters, sons, parents, friends are showing up with presence while I take care of everything else. This provides a dignified experience for the person dying and a peaceful environment for all.

Q What if I want to care for my loved one at home myself, without a doula but I'm not sure how?

That's a beautiful gift. I personally coach you remotely. This "deathbed coaching" is 1/1 guidance and practical tips to empower you to care for your dying loved one.

Q Is this service covered by insurance?

Some insurance plans will allow a reimbursement for services. Most often it's private pay.

Q How will I know when I'm ready to work with a doula?

The time to have end-of-life conversations is not at end-of-life. The best time to work with me is before you "need' me.

Q I want to have a conversation with my adult children about my end of life wishes but I'm struggling with how to approach it...

The Grateful Death Intention is a great conversation starter, a $9.99 downloadable worksheet that gives your loved ones a glimpse into the person you are, and the things you find meaningful, before illness occurs. https://www.thegratefuldeath.org/store-1
